Honey garlic sauce is the kind of thing that makes people lick the pan. Sweet, garlicky, sticky — and it takes about five minutes to make. The chicken is just the vehicle. The sauce is the star.

Steps

  • 01Season chicken thighs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Sear chicken 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • 02In the same pan, reduce heat to medium. Add butter and garlic. Cook garlic 1 minute until fragrant but not burned.
  • 03Add honey, soy sauce, and vinegar. Stir and simmer 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  • 04Return chicken to the pan. Toss and spoon sauce over each piece for 1–2 minutes until everything is coated and glossy.
  • 05Serve over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Spoon extra sauce from the pan over everything. That sauce is gold.

Blu's Tips

🍗
Thighs Over Breasts
Thighs stay juicier under the sticky glaze and handle the high heat better. They're also cheaper. Win-win.
🧄
More Garlic
Six cloves sounds like a lot. It's not. The honey tames the garlic and rounds it out. Don't reduce it.
🍯
Watch the Honey
Honey burns fast on high heat. Once it goes in, keep the heat at medium and watch it. Caramelized is the goal; burned is a minute away.
🌶️
Add Heat
Red pepper flakes in the sauce give it a little edge that balances the sweetness. Even a small pinch changes the whole profile.
